DIGITAL HUMAN TRAFFICKING – The Cyberspiritual Security Nightmare On The Horizon

This write up is my attempt to solidify the abstractions caused by rapid disruptive technology mission creep. What is true in this article now may be radically altered by the time it reaches any audience; such is the nature of the speed and flux of the developments afield at this present juncture. As such, I will not be making any effort at an academic level documentation here, but rather a crude sketch illustrating what it is I have gleaned from my own systems integration approach to problems emerging from the new technologies.

FORMAL AXIOMS {you must know something about these concepts to proceed}

DIGITAL HUMAN FREIGHT – A concept introduced in Netflix original series Altered Carbon, depicts a future world where a device called a cortical stack is implanted in the spinal column at birth, where the nerve and bone tissues grow around the disc to integrate into the body and nervous system. It essentially records all mental thought processes and faculties to create the Digital Human Freight, or cyber soul of an individual. This device can be removed, transported, and re-implanted in genetically engineered bodies. While fictional, it helps to visualize my hypothesis.

FOG / MIST COMPUTING – Simplified, this is the extension of sensors and data collection nodes outward from the central processing unit of cloud computer platforms.

WETWARE – The concept that such sensors and nodes can be utilized by the human domain via brain computer interfaces, utilizing both reception and transmission of radio and or other signals.

BRAIN COMPUTER INTERFACE – Brought to you by DARPA, the brain computer interface deploys technologies to connect man and machine via ultrasound, magnetometers, optical sensors, and nanotechnology.

NANOTECHNOLOGY – Little machines doing big things.

CONTAINERIZATION – An operating system feature in which the kernel allows the existence of multiple isolated user-space instances. Such instances are called containers.

CONTAINER – An intermodal container is a large standardized shipping container, designed and built for intermodal freight transport, meaning these containers can be used across different modes of transport – from ship to rail to truck – without unloading and reloading their cargo.

HUMAN TRAFFICKING – The logistics of human trade for the purposes of exploiting the human resource including but not limited to sexual slavery, organ and tissue harvesting, or forced labor.

LET’S MAKE THIS QUICK. . .

The scenario I envisioned which terrified me was brought about by DARPA’s recent announcement about the brain computer interface. There are so many unforeseen advantages to this sort of technology, but an equal and opposite force of savagely horrifying security implications.

If the mind can be read, it can also be written unto, just like a Linux file system with user privileges. This means in so many ways, goodbye to social engineering, religion and spirituality, and any meditative or mental health practices. The end-user is no longer in control of their own mental faculties, obsoleted by the advent of this technology.

If that wasn’t terrifying enough, imagine the brain computer interface being used to record people’s cyberspiritual digitized souls, or their entire amalgam of personal data as agglomerated in cloud storage and processed by quantum computing. This means a sort of copy or duplicate of a person can be simulated via brain computer interface technology. This is not unlike cloning a hard disk drive.

Take into perspective the idea of containerization, useful in cloud computing deployments and server migrations. This allows for a virtualized environment to encapsulate, or contain software.

In human trafficking scenarios, people are often neglected and stored in shipping containers on shady voyages to foreign shores for the nefarious purposes of their captors. Dwelling in the forced constraints of their new environments, the trafficked slaves will be forced to function as valuable assets for their captors all their days.

Now with computer brain interface, and containerization, digitized human souls can be copied and duplicated and forced into virtual environments where they too will serve all their days as value producing assets for their captors.

With an artificial intelligence arms race at hand, this spells the end of free will for humanity in the long run.
